APC Chieftain adviced Nigerians on regular vital signs check - News At Large

Mr Oyakhilome Bello, APC United States National Youth leader on Monday in Abuja, advised Nigerians to cultivate the habit of checking their vital signs regularly to live healthy and longer. He gave the advice at a medical outreach sponsored by Mr Ade Omole, Director of Diaspora of the dissolved APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC)  to support a political pressure group: Patriots in Defense of Democracy. The group had since March 26, been holding a pre-inauguration daily hangout at the Abuja Unity Fountain for the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu.Mr Tosin Adeyanju, Convener of the group, said the hangout was in solidarity with the mandate freely given by Nigerians to Tinubu on Feb. 25.He explained that the hangout was aimed at redirecting the on-going narratives about the Feb. 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections and the emergence of Tinubu as the president-elect.He said that the hangout would be sustained till the inauguration day on May 29 through contributions from friends and well-wishers of Tinubu, the President-elect. Bello while donating some medical consumables to the team, said he keyed into the initiative because he wanted Nigerians to live long and in good health to enjoy a better Nigeria that would be enthroned by the incoming Tinubu government. He added that vital signs monitoring was crucial for living a healthy and long life because it gave us a glimpse into our overall well-being and signal early signs of an infection as well as prevent a misdiagnosis. Bello, who is also an entrepreneur and a social media influencer, added that checking vital signs regularly, helped in detecting symptom-less medical problems, thereby leaving us with better treatment choices. He decried a situation where under privileged Nigerians could not readily afford healthcare facility, adding that the narrative would change with the incoming administration of Tinubu. According to him, Tinubu has set a target to cover a minimum of 87 million or 40 per cent of Nigerians within two years of his administration, deploying the mandatory National Health Insurance Scheme. Bello said Tinubu planned to achieve this expansion by increasing the financing available for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and the Vulnerable Group Fund recently established by President Muhammadu Buhari. The scheme he added, was to insure the health of vulnerable Nigerians. Bello further added that Tinubu has plans of decentralization of the social health insurance scheme to bring all Nigerians under a central national scheme to be managed by the National Health Insurance Authority.

The exercise had in attendance APC chieftains, including Mr James Faleke, Secretary of the party’s dissolved PCC and some Nollywood members among others. Bello used the opportunity of the event to express gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, Faleke and other APC leaders for all they did during the campaign period to ensure the party’s victory at the polls. He noted that the party would not had achieved much without their pragmatic leadership style, foresight and coordinating ability.Dr Sylvia Okoro, leader of the medical team said the exercise was in line with Tinubu’s mandate of making health care accessible and affordable to all Nigerians. She said the team was in  support with Omole because of his commitment to improving access to quality health to the vulnerable and neglected population in the country, especially. She expressed satisfaction at the turnout of beneficiaries which she said had continued to thronged to the Unity Fountain since the hangout began 28 days ago. Some of the beneficiaries who spoke, commended Omole for the initiative, saying it should be emulated by other public spirited individuals. The medical outreach featured blood sugar level, blood pressure, dental services, eye test, general body checkups and other supplementary exercises (https://newsatlarge.ng)
